Portuguese Slavery - The Pathfinders of the World
Portuguese merchants on the west coast of africa invented the atlantic slave trade. Over a period of 300 years, somewhere between three and five million people were forcibly removed to south america by the portuguese and their dutch and english successors. Portugal's commercial dominance of large swates of the world lasted little more than a century, but its influence much longer.
