Teal was born in germany, and his family moved around because his dad worked for various mining companies. After high school, tell en to stanford; it's a relatively conservative place as far as i elite colleges go. Teal ended up constructing an identity that was opposed to all that. He saw the divestment stuff as a personal attack on him.
