The Law of the Moslem Empire
Under islamic law, it was illegal to take another moslem as a slave. The fourteenth century scholar machlufel balbali set this law in writing. Legal disputes would erupt periodically over whether it was allowed to sell slaves who had converted after being captured. And for the kingdom of male as a whole, converting to islam offered similar protections.
