The Effects of Cavitation on Plant Clicking
As the plant is stressed, it loses some of its precious bodily fluids and the result is little empty spots inside the plant. The authors repeated their experiment inside a greenhouse for a more realistic setting than inside an acoustical box. No one knows what the clicking is yet, but it seems most likely to be the movement of carbon dioxide or water vapor or whatever inside the plantor it could be the sound of those gases leaving the plant.
