Introduction
Kong started from another company called MASHAPE. It was the largest API marketplace back in the days, like an eBay for APIs. We built a gateway that at the time was processing billions of requests from 400,000 developers. The difference between our gateway open source and every other project that was open source is that the con gateway started to get immediate traction and adoption in the community.
