Aristotle thinks in as much as everything changes, there have to be parts of things, right? He's not saying the state or the polis is nothing more than just the collection of its parts. But he does think he can only understand the polis by beginning from a bottom-up analysis. And if we do that, we will discover that all of these parts and pieces play different roles in the composition.
