Is There a Cost to Being at the Extreme End?

Aristote thought that virtue was living in the middle. And so there's something to be said for this with happiness, too. If you were always at a ten out of ten and you never change, you wouldn't notice any change. The need for change is that we don't notice our absolute objective status. We only notice when we change from it.
