The Importance of Veiling in the Arab World
In 1916, the first British English woman who was an editor of a national newspaper. There's a lot there to just chew on and think about about the gender dynamics about the power. So are you suggesting then that the veil in that case is less about religion, less about being Muslim, and more about Arab customs? Absolutely. I mean, I remember when I was a kid of five, six, seven years old, my grandmother, she would wear the abaya, not veiled. But the Arab Abaya, because you are in living in an Arab city.
