i was in graduate school from 19 95 onwards at cambridge, cambridge, england. i was working with martin rees and on trying to understand how to integrate the growth, formation and evolution of black holes into the larger picture that we know about physics. And around that time is really when we started observationally to get a hint that maybe every galaxy in the universe harbours a black hole in the centre. So for my thesis work, i did the first real, sort of synthetic modelling of putting these pieces together.
