The Business Model of Airports

So how much of this responsibility for these disruptions belongs with the airports rather than the air lines that we all like to get so angry at? And beyond that, i guess, what is the business model of airports at all? I mean, how do airports make money? Say, absolutely. A lot of the disruption is to do with the ground staff.
