Young worms, they feed at a very, very high rate using this structure, the pharynx. And what happens is that the, the cuticle of thepharynx experiences mechanical senescence. The bacteria are contained in these granulomas and then when the major senescence process kicks in, they come out like the trojans in the Trojans horse. They infect thePharynx, and they destroy the Pharynx. In the young worm, the infection is contained. But in the old worm, then it comes out. This pattern where disruptions are contained and then emerge in later life occurs again and again in aging-related diseases.
