"I didn't feel comfortable putting myself out there with people i didn't know," Scott says. "Why would anyone want to know my thoughts and feelings about subjects that i'm not necessarily an expert in, or, you know, that i don't have all the right answers to?" It seems like your default assumption was that unless you were explicitly told otherwise, what you had to say wouldn't be interesting to people,. Is that right? I think i just didn't have a lot of selfcon ance."

Scott Menke never thought he had a particularly compelling personality, but he did feel he stood out in at least one way: he had a natural ability to learn and remember interesting facts.
