The lifetime prevalence of PTSD is close to 10% in the general adult population. Left untreated, people have more dissociation after trauma. It's linked to those more severe PTSD symptoms later on. The Cambridge Depersonalization Scale and Multidimensional Inventory of Dissociation are two assessment tools for probing dissociation.
