Is Divorce a Mechanism to Increase Happiness?
In the U.S., divorce laws have been liberalised in a bid to make it easier for couples to end their marriages and move on with their lives. The idea is that this will increase happiness, even if at short term cost. But there are serious economic and social consequences which permanently jeopardise the position particularly of women over the rest of their lives. It's not translated into ending child poverty as you would anticipate.
