Putin Invaded Ukraine

Putin did provoke this escalation of the war. There's no question that he invaded Ukraine on February 24. And he is responsible for how the war is waged, there's no question about that. The other argument is that it was a war of self defense and Putin invaded in large part because NATO moved up into Ukraine. But what someone like Boris Johnson would say is that why would we play to Russia's paranoid? Why would why would the West direct its strategy towards Russia's paranoia?
