USID has been working with Ukrainian government since 2014 on cyber protections more broadly. Cyber security is not an afterthought for the state, it's sort of like 'turning the lights on,' says U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine David Rothkopf. "You can't think about anything that the state does without thinking about the Russian Federation's attempt to destroy it," he adds.
Today, Kara talks to USAID Administrator Samantha Power and Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Information Mykhailo Fedorov about the role of tech in the war, and the power of an app called Diia. Among its capabilities: accessing medical information, filing claims for war damage to property and helping track Russian troop movements.
