Wycliffe and the Church as a Legal Corporation
Wycliffe's followers became known as Lawlards and they carried on his teachings. They were mostly tradesmen and artisans with a few knights and gentry scattered across England. The combination of John of Gaunt's influence and the ongoing great schism managed to keep Wycliffe out of trouble until his death in 1384.
