The Hawthorn Effect
I don't think we need eight hours a day was a myth. I think it's something that Rockefeller came up with with factories, right? Everyone's a manual labor. The Hawthorn effect is this study that was done in the 1920s. They got scientists in white carrots with clipboards to measure productivity of factory workers at 100% at different light levels. And they didn't see any reduction in productivity.
