The Importance of Labor Discipline
The treatment and specifically the abandonment of the non deserving, non working poor is a really key component to labor discipline. This is how we compel people to work: through creating these kinds of taxonomies and types and classes of who qualifies. The idea that communities sort of become responsible for the burdens that they generate in an extremely hyper localized way. And so not only was there a kind of social outcast function that begins to exist as synonymous with someone who's an on worker.
