Is There a Bias in Birth Rates?
Long termism emerged from a marriage between effective altruism and the bostromian view. The way that accidential risk was originally defined explicitly in transhumanis terms, any event that would prevent us from creating a stable, flourishing, post human civilization. There's this notion that if we have a lot of kids, what that does is speed up scientific, technological development. Technology holds the key to solving all the problems that we're facing today or at least enabled by technology.
