When to Disengage From Experience
Bodhisattva practice is also about loving this being which doesn't really exist but loving this non-existent being in order to serve a wider perspective. The Tibetan Lama, Zigar Kungjal Rinpoche describes a practice called Lenchuk which he translates interestingly as karmic debt. Sometimes when we're feeling distress it can be really wise to disengage from experience. If we're confronted with someone with whom we have a very tangled past and a tangled history sometimes we feel a lot of obligation especially if we've known them a long time to help them.
