The Regressive Impacts of Regulating Home Ownership

i think a lot of these policies that are designed to increase access often wind up having this regressive character once they're actually created in reality. The way these laws get crafted and maintained is subject to these public choice problems, where it's people who already have more access that get to craft and structure how theese work. Once you set up these subsidies for home ownership, you now have this group of people who have an incentive to protect their assets. That means there won't be nearly as strongf an incentive to advocate for increased increased access. I'm very keen to carry on the conversation at another another time.
