The Power of Distracting Your Emotions When You're in High Distress

Sometimes doing something to distract yourself for a little bit helps you get through that very, very difficult moment so that you can then figure out what to do next kind of in the long term. Extreme pain is certainly a classic example. I also think sometimes it can be a little bit less obvious, like, you know, just a couple weeks ago, I used one of these skills when I needed to essentially move on from something that had happened and have a normal night with my partner.
