Open Source Software Isn't a Monopoly
I don't think being open or being proprietary has to be the defining factor of it. I think what we have to watch out for is an artificial monopoly, which could be with google. Translate. The fact that google is built on so much open sou sof ware and holds so much data, proprietary could be a problem. It inhibit us being able to do stuff that's more inventive in the future. And open source can respond to that with a level playing field.
