Is Obesity a Contraindication?

Trina: I do not believe that obesity is should be a contraindication anymore. It does make the cannulation process more difficult, it becomes sometimes a two man technique to even get the needle in the wire in. Some people will say they'll have up regulation of IL six TNF alpha. Maybe there's some endotoxin neutralization by adipose tissue. My own personal take and this is definitely still just hypothesis going is some of these patients with morbid obesity, I think have a big restrictive component to their failure. And they end up having respiratory failure with less severe prankamol damage.
