The Ruthless Critique of the Frankfurt School
I would argue that a lot of the critical theories actually are Marxists without a utopia. There is no utopia because it's kind of a surrender to the fact that all that's left is what Karl Marx himself referred to as the ruthless critique. As an Augustinian, shaped by Christian theology and that Augustinian tradition, we can understand the rejection of a utopic. But the biblical promise is something better than utopia.
