The Relationship Between Subsea Permafrost and Methane Clathrates
Some of the frozen carbon there is actually terrestrial in origin, or it came from a land ecosystem. And that since then been flooded by the sea and is now in permafrost in the subsea. There are also methane clathrates that are below the permafrost. So I have to imagine that the subsea permafrost would have slower thawing than the above ground permafrost That's exposed to the air.
