The Importance of Gyroscopes in Space Telescopes
When Hubble is focusing on something and trying to keep it in its field of view, it's like holding a laser beam focused on a dime 200 miles away. That's how precise we're trying to be. So these gyroscopes are super duper important to the operation of these space telescopes. And because these things are so important, they actually went up in 2009 and replaced all six of them.
