CHAPTER

The Cry of the Israelites

The Israelites, grown and cried out, they brought their pain to public speech. This is not the first day they hurt. They hurt for a long time, but the regime was a silencer. All the text says is that they cried out. It does not say they cried out to Yahweh. The justice issue has to arise from below enough to get God's attention. So what happens in this exchange at the burning bush is that there is an alliance formed between the holy God and the victims of Pharaoh's injustice. That alliance turns history to newness.
