The Role of Women in 18th Century Pornographic Writing

Women are more central to and more sympathetically treated in 18th century pornographic writing than probably in any other period. A lot of these texts are written from a kind of like masculine point of view where you're the optics of the novel are focused at the woman's body for example. Fanny Hill is a great example. She writes to her to an intimate friend I'm going to tell you about the years of my life. I spent as a sex worker.
