Go Swift Messengers, to a Nation Scoured and Smooth
The challenge with hebrew is often it will be some kind of o mental image that a word is portraying, and it's left to the reader or translator to figure out which one it means. Let's read the second verse of isaiah 18 from the king james version and try to make sense of it. It says, go ye swift messengers, to a nation scattered and peeled,. To a people terrible from their beginning hitherto a nation meted out and trodden down. In other words, as these tributaries criss cross across ethiopian territory before they begin to merge and flow into egypt... They're the ones that can help us overcome our enemies.
