When I first heard the news of what had happened to Salman Rushdie, I was appalled and I was horrified for him. As a writer who's very opinionated and who gets death threats, every time I walk on stage, I wonder if this is the day that someone is going to harm me or try to harm me. But how do you change that though? Because everybody feels like they can say anything they want and now it's sort of the do anything they want. It's more than free speech. It's actually about public safety of yourself in a public place. So I just think it's a problem and we have to do a lot of ways to push back on this.
