By the early 1980s, Drew had some seriously impressive acting credits under her belt. She filmed Stephen King's fire starter and Irreconcilable Differences in which she played a young girl who was seeking to divorce her parents. During filming for Firestarter, Drew became close with the author Stephen King. In her first memoir, she wrote, people such as him appreciated me. It meant so much to me when someone like Stephen, whom I saw as a fatherly sort, complimented or hugged me. At those times, I felt fulfilled and loved.
