It's as though judgments of perception were merely on the level of kind of the way Hume says yes you know I don't think I have a self but I have a bundle of perceptions right and I feel like Kant wants to be like well no you've got to have this. The pure forms of understanding our universally valid and sort of work from the get go, so it does still feel like there has to be some kind of transcendent instance for us to believe in reason.
