The Importance of Friendship in Grief
Sometimes we judge ourselves for wanting a distraction as though there's something wrong with that. I think sometimes people can feel bad about wanting to just go out and have a fun day and hook up with someone because it's not what you're supposed to do. And so if we can understand that there's actually value in, according to this theory, spending time thinking about the loss, but then also intentionally distracting from it, right? There's healing power in that. We don't have to just, we can like our reasons and have our reason be distraction.
