The Pros and Cons of Fast-Track Trade Agreements

In 1994 the Eurogrid Round Agreement which created the World Trade Organization was, that's right, implemented under fast-track procedures. In 1994 Harvard Law Professor Lawrence Trebe testified to Congress what the implications would be of creating the World Trade Organisation in this way. On November 29, 1994, the House of Representatives voted 288 to 146 with the majority of both the Republican and Democratic parties voting yes. The news didn't and still isn't telling us this but you need to know that our Congress was warned before this thing became law. But one thing is clear, we have surrendered our sovereignty, our freedom to make and live by our own laws to the World Trade System.
