How to Identify a Chimpanzee by Sight

Chimps use food as a sort of trading tool so that they can get in with higher ranking individuals. It's really quite Machiavellian, the way that they seem to be using these calls. Sounds like secondary school? There are some nice parallels to how humans tactically choose who to share information with as well. But a practical question, I can't really tell the difference between most chimpanzees. How do you do it? Particularly working in the wild because you don't see some individuals for months on end.
