Learn Swift on the Raspberry Pi
The barrier to entry is high, because you need a magnat. With the inclusion of now swift playgrounds, you have a few options. You can ge that with running swift on the raspberry pie, without having to go down the process of using a mack. It still doesn't get you into creating aps, but it gets you familiar with using the swift language and controlling stuff with it.
