Neural Nets and Pattern Recognition

Until about two thousand years ago, pattern recognition in the practical world was done using a whole bunch of tricks. A graduate student tried to run a deep learning system on an image and then left it running for months by mistake. Now we can use that same training process to learn how to recognize faces from satellite images. The technology is now being developed as part of Google's Project TensorFlow.
