The Negative Capability Approach to Poetry

How did you become the poet that you now are? I struggled to, to write, uh, self expressive poetry in my undergraduate years. In graduate school a colleague showed me work deliberately designed to be unreadable. And I was so appalled by the fact that I didn't understand it and also wasn't prepared to appreciate it given my own training as an English literature student.
