Let's imagine they decide to poke down somewhere in Siberia right now. would we do about that? It might be the equivalent of like there you know the war of roses is coming to an end and the losing factions decide to come visit us. They might have been a horrible horrible people who are fleeing one step ahead the guillotine too. After 300 years on a ship maybe you're talking to their descendants who have this rose colored image of them or all themselves actually very nice but may have turned very nasty and piratically even though they were the noble fleeing rebels.
