The Industrial Revolution and the Human Agent
It's surprising that there wasn't an industrial revolution in the Netherlands in the 17th century as it is that there was one in England in the 18th century. Average family sizes were actually bigger in Britain in the industrial revolution than in any period in the previous 600 years. Large families have no effect on outcomes of children, according to a new study. The amount of care and attention that goes into children now is so much greater than in the pre-industrial world.
