The Origins of the Oracle of Delphi

From archaeology, we guess around 800 BC is more or less when it happens. There may have been a Mycenaean shrine there many centuries before that. It's kind of hard to say what was going on there during the Greek dark ages. The Pythia only did her duties nine times a year, once a month during nine months. If you missed that the Pythia's show day, you had to make do with a lesser oracle.
