Thing in itself
Is There a Difference Between a Computer and a Living Thing?
There is no proof that a living thing could not be a computational system. Living things are very different from computers, but what we've learned since the 1950s is that you make mistakes when you underestimate what clever programmers can make computers do. A machine that humans built is made of components organized in a particular way to serve a function that we decide when we build the machine. That doesn't mean you can't build a simulation to one in a virtual machine on your laptop.
