Caring for Patients in Law Enforcement Custody
Breathe Easy
I Think It's Important to Know What the Nature of the Crime Is, but Also Be Our Patient
i would generally advise against inquiring what the nature of the crime is. I think that it really sets us up to potentially provide less quality service for our patients if we are starting to hear various allegations or charges against someone that isn't thoroughly proven. And frankly, should not influence the way that we treat them as a patient. They the patient can also have a legal status that's under question, but also be our patient. We strongly urge institutions to think about having some sort of teams stood up to help bedside providers address these questions.
