What Is a Transition Beat?

A beat is divided into two units, an input and an output. Most beats have both inputs and outputs. Beats could just be inputs only occasionally,. like the beginning of this short story, we have a beat that's only input for world building. So instead of me getting information directly from the story teller, from the author, now it brings my eyes down to actual avatars on the stage.
