Grace and the City: Infused Moral Virtues and Common Goods
Sed Contra: A Podcast of Catholic Theology
Is There a Need for Infused Moral Virtues
The acquired virtues are themselves taken up into the new life of grace and now serve the ultimate end of the attitude or redirected. But this is precisely what St. Thomas rejects in laying out the need for infused moral virtues. Only the latter are proportionate to man's supernatural end so as to concern means towards that end. If that's untenable it seems we're left with the option of unmasking of the so called acquired virtues as not really virtues at all at least for the Christian life.
