Researchers have found differences in lying based on gender, social status and some other demographic characteristics. Age is probably the biggest factor; people who are low in agreeableness and high in neuroticism are more likely to lie. People with low self-esteem are much more inclined to lie than those who have higher levels of self-esteem.
