The Crisis of Authenticity in Foucault

Foucault says that we are culturally conditioned or socialized and therefore controlled by society were controlled by the expectations and norms of society. This kind of thing has carried forth from Foucault into queer theory which is extremely Foucaultian in its orientation. The idea that cultural conditions constrain people and prevent them from being who they authentically are can be found in his work. He was guilty of the thing that he would have been aware of but nevertheless you find the crisis of authenticity in him.
