"I was dropping from the sky with about 40 other veterans who jump every day. And I was looking down at the same piece of land where we had landed 68 years earlier," he said. "Any political ambassador has been given the gift of getting to serve as Chief of Mission for one day not to mention for years." He added: "That means respect hard work realizing it's not about you. It's about your country".
